FAQ

How old do you have to be to get a tattoo?

In Australia the law states you must be 18 to get a tattoo. No exceptions.

In North America it is up to my desecration who I will tattoo. I am very picky on placement and design of anyone under 18, be prepared to be turned down.

Can you tattoo over other tattoos?

Yes, I enjoy doing cover-up work. You will however have to go larger than the existing tattoo you are looking to cover. Full colour tattoos are best to go over another. I cannot guarantee your tattoo will be fully covered in black and grey work. There is very little solid colour used in black and grey which is they key part to a successful cover up.

Do I need to shave or prep before getting tattooed?

Please be sure to come in showered and clean before getting tattooed. If you don’t wear deodorant please be kind and make an exception if I am tattooing anywhere on your abdomen or inner bicep. Please don’t shave your skin before coming in. There have been to many cases of razor burn before getting tattooed which makes it harder and more painful to heal your tattoo.

How much will it cost?

This is a very hard question to answer online, and for the most part I wont. Your best bet is to come see me with an idea, and reference if you have something in mind. I will then be able to give you an approximate quote, once your drawing is complete I will be able to give you a closer ball park price. I cannot guarantee any price until the tattoo is complete. My minimum charge is $100.

Can you tattoo over scars?

Yes for the most part you can tattoo over scars. I cannot guarantee the result 100%. This is because scar tissue is different than normal skin. Large sections of solid colour may stand out different to the tattoo and have a shiny look. Parts of the tattoo may also drop out and need a touch up due to the different skin. I have tattooed over many stretch marks, and various scars over the years. It is best to come in and see me or send me a good clear image of the scar and I can let you know what I can do for you.

Is it ok to get a tattoo if I'm sick?

Getting a tattoo when you immune system isn’t 100% is always a bad idea. You need your strength and white blood cells to heal your tattoo, your body is already battling against the virus and bacteria. Not to mention it in inconsiderate to bring illness into a studio and pass it onto others. If you have already taken time off work or made major arrangements to get to your appointment. Please wear a disposable face mask. I will wear one also so you don’t feel silly.

How much does it hurt?

This various with everyone and I cant give you an exact answer. There are many scales and “pain diagrams” going around. But what is painful for  is painless for another. If you are really worried going into a tattoo you can purchase some numbing agents such as Emla Creme or Dr. Numb. They are usually available at your local  Drug Store/Chemist. You can request for me to use a lidocaine spray during the tattoo. It really helps for the tail end of a large tattoo.

Women generally have a better pain tolerance then men.

Where can I find pictures of...?

If your getting a tattoo done by me I prefer to draw my own images custom to you. If you want to show me reference that’s fine, but I will not re-use/steal another artists tattoo work. Be original.

My friend just bought a tattoo kit should I let them tattoo on me?

Sure, I might not be able to repair the tattoo. But you can come see me for a cover-up.

How do I become a tattooist?

Draw, draw, draw.
